Welcome to our new site
Cornus canadensis, commonly known as Bunchberry, is a charming, low-growing perennial that forms a lush carpet of glossy, oval leaves arranged in distinctive whorls atop upright stems. In late spring to midsummer, it produces delicate, star-like blooms, where four crisp white bracts surround a cluster of tiny greenish-yellow flowers, creating a refined woodland display. As the season progresses, these blossoms give way to bright red, edible berry-like fruits that add vibrant colour and persist into fall, complementing the foliage as it transitions to rich wine-red to purple tones. Spreading gently by underground rhizomes, Bunchberry is an excellent ground cover for moist, acidic, shaded gardens, offering multi-season interest and natural beauty in woodland settings.

🌱 Perennial Care Guide (Gatineau/Ottawa)
All perennials at Nesbitt’s are suitable for hardiness zones 1 through 5. This means they are selected to withstand a wide range of colder climates and seasonal temperature variations in our region.
Perennials are expected to return year after year when planted in the right conditions. To support strong root development and long-term performance, use well-draining soil and enrich with compost or peat moss. Choosing the right plant for your garden’s light and soil will help ensure reliable growth and consistent blooms each season.
